OK... I've heard it all. Obama is now saying: Without this $ 1 Trillion stimulus package the "recession may be irreversible".... Irreversible... power word Mr. President! Are you sure you want to use that term... irreversible? Then he adds: "This recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits (Just a note: where I live, it's already there). Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse."
So let me get this straight... without an extra $35 Billion for the Energy Dept our country will never recover? Without $142 Billion extra for the Dept of Education our country will not recover? Without $650 million for digital TV coupons our country will never recover? Without $50 million for the Endowment for the Arts our country will never recover? Without $350 million for birth control our country will never recover? Without an $87 Billion bailout for State Medicaid our country will never recover?
Mr. President... please... way too much drama... not to mention your trying to scare people! Whenever the government wants some huge wasteful spending bill passed quickly they play the crisis card! Just admit it...you want this bill passed quickly so the American people don't find out exactly what's in this gigantic pork chop!
You seem to be forgetting just a few facts here. #1) We the people, our children and grandchildren will be left paying for this debacle long after you're gone from office. (Just a note: It seems like several of your appointees have trouble paying their fair share of existing government programs) #2) You are significantly increasing the size of government and its intrusion into every citizens life right down to what they can smoke, drive, eat, drink, pray, watch and listen to. And #3) this program is significantly contributing to the creation of a "nanny state class" of citizens which will be more and more dependent upon government services to sustain their lives... this Mr. President... is a sin!
Most economic analysts agree only about 20% of this $1 trillion stimulus (spending bill... yes ,this is an out of control spending bill... not a stimulus package) is actually economic stimulus... gee... that leaves 80% or about $800 Billion in PORK... PORK... and MORE PORK. You seem to think only the government can get us out of this economic situation. Sorry... I'll put my money on the the free enterprise system... not the government. Hell, the government can't even get coupons out for digital TV conversion... and you say you want government run healthcare... what a joke... I digress... back to the topic at hand.
Here's an novel idea... you want to stimulate the economy... stop all payroll taxation for the next 6 months. That would be about $1 trillion, or the same sum you want infused into the economy through government spending... one big difference... the people would decide where to spend their money... not the government! Let everyone take home what they actually make! What a revolutionary idea! Just think what that would do for the economy... immediately... not 2 years from now when mid term elections are coming up!
I'm sorry, I didn't hear your response! I can't hear you over the screams from democratic politicians calling for my head! Oh... you say the government wouldn't get their share if we stopped taxation... Exactly, that's the point!
